Ratan Tata (Commitment) unveils Rs 1-lakh car 'Nano'
Ratan Tata unveils what is perhaps the most-hyped four-wheeler of the year at the Auto Expo show in New Delhi. Nano is priced at Rs 1 lakh, excluding taxes. Tata Motors on Thursday unveiled its 'People's Car', the 4-door Nano, which will be the world's cheapest car with a dealer price of 100,000 rupees. The car has a 624cc engine and is priced at about half that of the current cheapest car in the market, the Maruti 800. The new car will do 20 km per litre, it will have lower pollution levels than a two-wheeler and will meet all foreign environmental criteria. World's cheapest car

* Engine : Rear-wheel drive, 2-cylinder, 623 cc, multi-point fuel-injection petrol engine. Engine is rear mounted. Tata said it was the first time a 2-cylinder gasoline engine was being used in a car with single balancer shaft.
